AFTER MUCH hype, finally, the ‘Prince of Kolkata’, Sourav Ganguly announced his retirement from international cricket. The former Indian captain disclosed his retirement decision at a press conference in Bangalore.Sourav said he will quit cricket after the ongoing four-Test series against Australia. The left-handed batsman mentioned that he had already informed his teammates that this would be his last series in international cricket.

So will it affect the mindset of other seniors players?Will the fab four leave the cricket arena one after the other?Questions are wandering in every cricket fanatic.Some say the media speculations played a vital role in his retirement.Others are sure it was his own resolution.

His contribution had been immense to international cricket.He started his Test career in a superb fashion in 1996, by scoring a ton at the Mecca of Cricket, Lord’s. In his very first Test series, Ganguly impressed all by hitting back-to-back tons.No one can forget those 183 invaluable runs scored against Sri lanka in the 1999 World Cup.He also has 5 wicket hauls to his kitty.The Bengali has amassed 15000 odd runs in One day internationals with 31 centuries to his credit.Hailed as one of the most gifted left-handers in cricket,Dada was india’s most successful captain with 21 test wins.The nation also witnessed his team reaching the Finals of the 2003 World Cup.Its hard to forget the inestimable moment when Sourav stripped his shirt at Lord’s celeberating India’s unexpected victory against England.At one point of time he used to be called the God on off-side.He stands third in the list of hitting maximum number of sixes in ODIs.

  6. dada was good untill he was playing cricket…………but somewhere down the line cricket started playing him……….he felt as if he is the “don vito corleone” of indian cricket and thats when the problem came in………besides he is not india’s best ever captain and neither is he regarded as one……..Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi is india’s all time best captain in case u guys havent heard his name……….

  8. he was the one who was responsible of bringing yuvraj ,hurbhajan,in indian team.he has done lot of goods for india and we should always be proud on this man.hatts off to his breaveness…….
